A closer look at Stine® Trecepta® Technology brand corn

July 2025

Stine® Seed Company prioritizes delivering the latest in genetic and trait innovations to help farmers achieve reliability and profitability from their products, and our 2027 corn lineup is no exception. From conventional to traited offerings, including our MX Series Corn portfolio, there’s no shortage of racehorse options that will stand up to whatever Mother Nature brings next year.

One dependable trait in our 2027 lineup is Trecepta® Technology. This innovative platform, developed by Bayer, features high-performing protection against a variety of above-ground insects. The trait is built on the trusted VT Double PRO® Technology and provides a broad spectrum of control against pests, including corn earworm, western bean cutworm, black cutworm, fall armyworm, and European and southwestern corn borers.

Suppression of these yield-robbing pests is made possible in part by Trecepta’s three modes of action, two of which are inherited from the VT Double PRO Technology. Cry1A.105 and Cry2Ab2 — B.t. proteins passed down from the VT Double PRO Technology — are a critical line of defense against corn earworm. The third mode of action comes from the Vip3Aa20 protein, which helps suppress western bean cutworm, black cutworm and corn earworm.

“We’re really excited about a few of the new corn lines we have in the pipeline for 2027 that feature Trecepta Technology. We’ve been really impressed with the trait’s ability to target and suppress some of the toughest corn pests out there. If any grower has concerns with above-ground insects, Trecepta should be on their radar.”

Trecepta Technology also features Roundup Ready 2 Technology®, which adds an extra layer of protection for weed control with the flexibility to use glyphosate-based herbicides.

For the 2027 season, Stine is set to offer four new Trecepta lines that growers should take note of.

  • Stine 9532-30: This 102–104-day maturity line works well as an offensive hybrid within its zone and north of its zone. With the Trecepta trait, it features excellent above-ground protection, while Stine genetics deliver standability with good stalk and root strength, along with very good protection against greensnap and a flex-style ear.
  • Stine 9690-30: This is an early-flowering line in the 108–110-day maturity range. In addition to above-ground protection, it excels in variable soil types and features a girthy ear with high test weight. It sees best results with a midseason fungicide application, especially in fields with high leaf disease pressure.
  • Stine 9757-30: A 113–115-day maturity line featuring Trecepta Technology, Stine 9757-30 has a solid above-ground insect protection package and is a widely variable option for all yield environments, from west to east. It features a taller plant height with a semi-flex ear type, which allows you to push populations to maximize its full yield potential, even in lower-yield environments. It’s also a great option for silage.
  • Stine 9850-30: This high-yielding line in the 115–116-day maturity range is built for variable soil types. It features above-ground insect protection, low greensnap risk and protection against Goss’s wilt. It works best off fields with a history of tar spot. Growers should plan for a minimum of one fungicide application and a timely harvest to achieve maximum yield results.

In addition to four new options featuring Trecepta Technology in 2027, Stine is also bringing back 9721-30 for the upcoming season — a reliable choice for growers in the 111–113-day maturity zone seeking an offensive, robust line with very good drought tolerance.
